AeppelTreow – Blackbird

Blackbird is their American-style berry-flavored cider, blended with the juices of black currants and elderberries. It’s a little sweet and a bunch tart.

ÆppelTreow Sogbird Ciders are crafted in small batches from apples grown by farmers they know. They are named for little birds that live in and around the orchard.

Cider and Perry?  ÆppelTreow uses the pre-Prohibition meaning of ‘cider’, so they’re talking about fermented or ‘hard’ cider. Perry is the pear analogue to cider.  They use lots of different kinds of apples and pears in their products.  Some modern.  Some heirloom – no longer grown for stores. ÆppelTreow makes a range of styles: sparkling, draft, still/table, and fortified/dessert.  Within a style, they lean to the dry end – but also have some medium-sweet offerings.
